Now is the time for us, we the people, to give a great gift to the politicians elected to represent us: our voice and our mandate. They need to hear two simple, powerful messages:

You care what happens at the Earth Summit and you want them to do all they can to ensure your President/Prime Minister attends.

You want your President/Prime Minister to show great leadership and call for the creation of a law of Ecocide at the Earth Summit.
Will you reach out to your elected representative and gift your voice? It doesn't take long, but it does need your thoughtfulness, your energy, to tell them why this matters to you.
At the weekend I met a campaigner working to end Ecocide in the Amazon, she reminded me of a very valuable lesson when contacting politicians: "Every personal message is worth a hundred template emails." Rather than giving you an email to send, we are asking if you will go further and write a personal message from the heart.
We do have a template message if you need inspiration, but what will be most powerful is for them to hear why this is important to you -- in your words not ours. It could make all the difference. By all means do also send them some background information on Ecocide - you don't need to be a legal expert, just tell them why it is you care.
